FMMI client and Rangers FC partner club Shenzhen Jianlibao became the first winners of the inaugural Chinese Super League thanks to a 3-1 victory at home to Shanghai Shenhua. Goals from former Everton defender Li Weifeng and a brace from Li Yi secured the honour for Shenzhen.
Having promoted the event in Asia, FMMI's Neil Eaves and Miwa Katayama attended the Soccerex Conference and Exhibition in Dubai bringing with them a number of influential guests from China, Japan and the US.
West Bromwich Albion appointed FMMI to act as their Marketing Consultants for the Japanese market following the signing of Japanese international player Junichi Inamoto. Under the Agreement FMMI will also assist the FA Premier League club to maximise Japan related brand-building and revenue generating opportunities in the UK.
Indian champions Kingfisher East Bengal lost their two matches in the Pepsi-Max Challenge but won many new friends with their courage and commitment. In a closely fought first game the Calcutta side lost 1-0 to hosts Leicester City. Although soundly beaten in the second game by their more illustrious opponents, East Bengal will take heart from two strong performances. Real Mallorca of Spain and Portugal's Maritimo also took part in the tournament.
Kingfisher East Bengal launched their new web site at a celebratory party in Calcutta. The new site, developed by FMMI and media partner Nicco Internet Ventures, sets a new standard for Indian football, and will provide the National League champions with the platform to reach out to their global fan base.
Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott greeted the Kingfisher East Bengal squad at a special reception at the House of Commons as the champions of India prepare for their historic participation in the Pepsi-Max Challenge. The invitation came as recognition of the contribution that the partnership between Leicester City FC and East Bengal, founded and managed by FMMI, had made towards fostering positive race-relations in Leicester.
Following the launch of the FMMI brokered partnership between the two clubs, Rangers FC coaches John Brown and Malcolm Thomson visited the Shenzhen Jianlibao Academy to assess the standard of players in the SJFC youth set up. The duo also oversaw training sessions and met with the coaches at the highly ambitious Chinese club to discuss potential future Chinese stars, and projects to improve the quality of coaching.
FMMI announced that it has negotiated and will manage partnership agreements between Shenzhen Jianlibao, the Shenzhen FA, and Glasgow Rangers FC. Using their office in Shenzhen as the focal point for their support of the project, FMMI will be working with all parties to maximise returns in both football and commercial terms.
Acting for leading Chinese Sports Publisher, Titan Group, FMMI acquired the rights for "Golf World" magazine from UK published EMAP. Titan intend publishing a Chinese version of the magazine as it extends its already impressive portfolio of titles.
Leicester City Academy Director Jon Rudkin visited Kilkata, with FMMI's Nigel Empson, to coach the India Under 17 national squad. Rudkin expressed his surprise at the quality of many of the players, and his pleasure at the "refreshing" enthusiasm and commitment of those in the squad. The India squad will travel to LCFC later in the year to receive coaching at the club's Academy prior to the Asian Championships in September.
FMMI announced that it has negotiated and will manage groundbreaking partnership agreements between Indian Champions Kingfisher East Bengal, the All India Football Federation, and English Premier League side Leicester City FC. The deals will see LCFC extend a range of support to their Indian partners including both football and commercial areas.

A special bonus for FMMI's Asian client was an unscheduled tour of Highbury Stadium, home to Arsenal.
